Remembering A Good Man 

 


 

Many of you were in attendance for the Memorial Service of long time ALVMA member Dr. George Millis (Auburn 1973) of Montgomery who passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008.  Dr. Millis was a highly respected member of the Montgomery veterinary community and a long time member of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association.  He gave of his time and talents in many ways.  George mentored high school students (I had the privilege of being one of these fortunate individuals) through
a veterinary explorer post.  His clients all loved him dearly for the interest he took not only in their pets, but in each one of them.

Foundation to Host Sixth Annual Animal Hall of Fame

The Annual Alabama Animal Hall of Fame is slated to be held at the Wynfrey Hotel Ballroom in Birmingham on Saturday evening, February 28th, 2009.  The evening will begin at 6:00pm with a silent auction, and open bar (beer and wine) for the first hour, delicious heavy hor d'oeuvers and a fast paced silent auction all to benefit the ALVMA Foundation. New ALVMA Emergency Response Units Arrive

The Veterinary Emergency Response Committee of the Alabama VMA applied for
a $20,000 grant from the American Veterinary Medical Foundation for the purpose of purchasing mobile disaster response equipment and for training of volunteers.  This grant was approved and matched through the generosity of our own Alabama Veterinary Medical Foundation.  With these matching funds two mobile companion animal equipment trailers were ordered complete with everything needed to handle emergency temporary shelter for 60 companion animals per unit

The office has received several returned notices because of insufficient or wrong address information.  You are encouraged to go to the ALVMA website (www.alvma.com) and check your personal profile to make sure everything is correct. If you have moved or changed your e-mail address or phone please make the correction on your profile. The Association office will automatically be notified that a change has been made.
