Why join the ALVMA? Just take a look at the services and benefits of being a member! Any graduate veterinarian can apply.

All you need to do is print out and complete the application form. Send the form, along with a check for dues to the address below.

New graduates are granted free membership the year of graduation and the following year, and reduced dues (50%) for the next two years.

The meeting location and schedule for each constituent association is published in the Alabama Veterinarian. ALVMA's annual meeting is held in June each year, usually on or near the Gulf Coast. This convention includes a good mix of social, recreational and educational activities with CE credits.

Active
    

Active Membership dues are $220.00 per year, and also must pay a $5.00 application fee.

Other veterinarians applying for active membership subsequent to January 1st shall pay dues for the remainder of the year on the following prorated basis:  Jan - March $220.00, April-June $165.00, July-Sept. $110.00, Oct-Dec $55.00, plus a $5.00 application fee shall accompany all new membership applications.

You will also need to list two (2) referralss and their phone numbers who will confirm that they are acquainted with the applicant and recommend him/her for membership.  The two (2) referrals are required, both of whom must be members of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association.

New Graduate
    

A veterinarian applying for membership into ALVMA during the year of graduation shall be exempt from dues for that year and for the following year, but will have to pay the $5.00 application fee, and shall pay dues amounting to one-half of the annual dues for the regular active members for the subsequent two (2) years.

You will also need to list two (2) referrals and their phone numbers who will confirm that they are acquainted with the applicant and recommend him/her for membership.  The two (2) referrals are required, both of whom must be members of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association.

3-4 Year Graduate
    

Must pay a $5.00 application fee, if you have been out of veterinary school for 3 to 4 years  you will only have to pay half of the regular active members fee.  If you have been out of veterinary school longer than four years then you will have to pay the active member price.

Retired
    

A member who does not qualify for any of the requirements for Life Member, but does meet the definition for retired.

Dues for retired members shall be one third (1/3) that of active member's dues ($73.00).

Retired Members shall be eligible to vote and hold committee appointments but shall not hold elected office.  If a Retired member of less than 40 years membership returns to regular employment, this member shall be required to revert to Active member status.
